T. John Lavicka CDT, Owner
John is the owner and president of Dental Ceramics, Inc., since 1988. Prior to that the company was led by his father Charles Lavicka. John’s son, Andrew is a 3rd generation co-owner of the lab.
John has devoted more than 30 years to developing a dental laboratory that focuses on the delivery of exceptional laboratory services combining art, science and technology with personalized attention and care.
In 2006, he founded The Center for Exceptional Practices, a ADA CERP and AGD PACE certified facility, designed to enable the restorative dentist and his/her team to achieve higher levels of success and satisfaction in clinical practice, through lecture and hands-on programs.
Professionally, John is a member of AACD, and since 2009, he has been an active student at The Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, FL. In 2013, he became a Visiting Faculty member for their Essentials Program and in 2016, he was elected to serve on the Board of The Pankey Institute. He is also a member of numerous study clubs; Spear Study Clubs, Seattle Study Clubs, Northeast Ohio ITI Study Club, Cleveland Comprehensive Care Study Club and the Akron Dental Society. He is a founding member of the Society for Occlusal Studies with Dr. Clifford Fox and Dr. Stan Ruzicka. John’s commitment to furthering the education of others as well as himself is very evident.
John is an outdoorsman; enjoying skiing in the winter and golf and tennis in the summer. His ultimate outdoor adventure is Heli-skiing, he finds no better thrill. In 2015, he traveled to Nepal as part of a photography tour of the beautiful country, and survived the April 2015 earthquake which unfortunately devastated much of the country.
John is the father of Julie, Allison and Andrew, and has 4 beautiful grandchildren. His grandchildren are the delight of his life—he enjoys doing everything with them. He is also an animal lover, caretaker of Jake his Border Collie mix—who travels everywhere with him, Sweetie Pie his 28 year old Senegal Parrot and Jub-Jub and Trixie two Lamancha Goats which live in the barn on the lab premises.
Andrew Lavicka, Owner
Andrew grew up alongside both John and his grandfather Charlie, preparing to lead the lab. In 2000, he began his full-time career at Dental Ceramics. As a 3rd generation owner, Andrew has made it his priority to keep Dental Ceramics Inc. current with all emerging technologies as dental labs are transitioning into the digital future.
On a daily basis, Andrew focuses on quality control, business operations, doctor/patient services, and technical training.
Outside of the lab Andrew is active in a variety of dental professional organizations, as he is a member of a Seattle Study Club, the Northeast Ohio ITI Study Club, the Frank Spear Study Club, and an alumni of The Pankey Institute. He has taken numerous courses with world rewound technicians, Lee Culp, CDT, and Oliver Brix.
Andrew is married to Elise, and they have two dog children; Turtle, an Australian Shepherd and Fergie, an Old English Sheepdog. In his free time Andrew enjoys snowboarding, biking, reading and traveling.
